Privacy policy

nudge.ai is a small, independently run app that reminds you about the birthdays and anniversaries of people you care about. This page explains, in plain language, what it stores, who handles it, and how to delete it.
What we store
- Your account: your email address, your timezone, the hour you want your daily email, and a private token that makes your calendar link work.
- Signing in: a short-lived sign-in link token, your login session, and a record of recent sign-in requests (the email address and the network address they came from) so we can stop abuse. Those request records delete themselves within a day.
- The people you add: their name, how they're related to you, city, country, timezone, interests, any notes you write, and a gift budget and currency. Please don't put anything in notes that you wouldn't want stored here.
- Their dates: birthdays and anniversaries (day, month and, if you give it, the year).
- Reminders: each reminder we prepare for you, the three suggested messages, and, if you tell us, which message you sent.
- Messages written ahead of time: if you ask for messages for a person's next birthday or anniversary from their page, we save them, which can include details from your notes, until you delete the person or your account.
- Gift ideas: the most recent set of gift ideas for a person, if you asked for them.
What we do with it
- Email you one digest on the morning of a milestone and seven days before, at the hour you choose.
- Write suggested messages for each reminder.
- Publish your calendar feed, if you subscribe to it.
We don't sell your data, show ads, or run analytics or tracking.
How AI is used
Suggested messages may be written by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. When that happens, we send Anthropic the person's name, your relationship to them, their city and country, their interests, your notes about them, the occasion and its date, and the message you sent last time if you marked one. We don't send your email address. If you ask for gift ideas, we send Anthropic the person's name, your relationship to them, their city and country, their interests, your notes, the gift budget and currency you set, and the ideas we suggested before. Gift ideas are reasoned only from what you've told us: nothing is searched for on the web, and nobody checks shops or stock. Some accounts use built-in templates instead, and then nothing is sent to Anthropic. Anthropic handles that data under its own terms and privacy policy. nudge.ai only suggests messages and gifts; you send and buy them yourself.
Who else handles your data
- Fly.io hosts the app and its database, in London.
- Resend sends our emails (sign-in links and your digests), so it sees your email address and what the email says.
- Anthropic writes suggested messages, as described above.
- Resend and Anthropic are US companies, so your data may be processed outside the UK and EU. Each has its own privacy terms.
- Your calendar provider (Google, Apple and so on), if you subscribe to your calendar link. It receives the names, relationships and dates in the feed. Anyone who has your link can read the feed, so treat it like a password. You can make a new link in Settings at any time, which stops the old one working.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in. A few short-lived cookies are used while you sign in: a security token that protects the sign-in form, the page to return to afterwards, and your browser's timezone (kept for up to a day). There are no advertising or analytics cookies.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
We keep your data until you delete it. You can edit or delete any person at any time. To delete everything, go to Settings and choose Delete account: your account, people, dates, reminders, messages and sign-in links are removed straight away and permanently (the abuse-prevention request records mentioned above expire by themselves within a day). Copies in routine database backups can remain for a short time until they are overwritten. Emails we've already sent can't be recalled, and Resend and Anthropic keep their own records under their own policies.
Your choices
You can see, correct and delete your data in the app, at any time, without asking anyone. If you're in the UK or EU you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority; in the UK that's the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). For any other question about your data, email admars.96@gmail.com.
Changes
If this changes in a way that matters, we'll update this page and its date.
